Information technology plays an important role in the upgrading of manufacturing enterprises

Based on the case study of Shangpin, the application of information technology plays an important role in enterprise upgrading and is an important path to improve the added value and competitiveness of products. In the three upgrading stages of Shangpin, the application breadth and depth of information technology and its role in promoting enterprise upgrading in these stages are different. They show a progressive relationship in the first stage, Shangpin mainly used the traditional information technology to transform the manufacturing process, to program the production operation and realize automatic production, which was local informationization. In the second stage, apart from applying information technology to guarantee its mass customization production capacity, it also introduced information technology elements into research and development, design, and sales services, basically realizing informationalization in the whole process. In the third stage, Shangpin upgraded the application level of information technology. With the help of the Internet, such as big data management and mining, cloud computing, precision search, etc., it entered the e-commerce industry to achieve business model innovation (O2O), providing high-quality and efficient mass customization production service (B2C) and realizing the integration of manufacturing and service industries.

“China Internet Development Report 2019” pointed out that by the end of 2018, China had more than 817 million mobile internet users and 407 million internet broadband access users, indicating that China has a market size advantage that no developed country can match. The vigorous development of information technology and the internet has provided a good opportunity for enterprises to develop their business.
